0,00:25,000 --> 0,02:05,000
And we have another great guest today. Brett Swarts is joining us. Brett, from Saint Augustine, Florida. How are you doing today, Brett? Thomas, better than I deserve. I hope you're able to be here. I love it. Brett, why don't you go introduce yourself? Tell us what your company does. Yeah. Yeah. My name is Brett Swarts, founder of Capital Gains Tax Solutions. So we exist to unlock capital gains to multiply freedom and impact. Sellers that are selling a massive nest of Bitcoin businesses, real estate, multimillion dollar exits, and they're looking for some freedom and flexibility with their capital and the ability to invest on their own terms. Give me give me that power statement. Why do people pick you? I think the biggest thing is you're best positioned to serve the people that you once were. Right? So I'm an entrepreneur. I'm a real estate investor. I'm a person who wants to be able to build wealth with leverage and not to be boxed in with old strategies. And so people just absolutely love the freedom and flexibility and transformation our strategy provides for them and the team to help them execute it. In your own journey, what tie have you had to cut to find success? Yeah. I mean, I think I had to let go of the old identity of, you know, doing the traditional things in traditional ways. Right? I remember I was at, Marcus and Millichap, and things crashed in the market, and we had to figure out a way to keep the dream alive. And part of that was getting a side hustle at Cheesecake Factory and working medical sales jobs while I continue to build on the dream that I felt I was called to do. So it was cutting the ties with that you had to just stick to that one thing or go get that, you know, settle for that w two job for sure. Right? I kept doing both. In fact, I did three for multiple years work working medical sales, working commercial real estate transactions, working our our tax referral strategy until I could get to a point where I said, alright. I can burn the ships and go all in. So I had to cut the ties with, knowing that it's not just one path. It can sometimes take, you know, multiple multiple places to get that income in order to finally
3
0,02:05,000 --> 0,02:54,000
be rid of the smaller way of thinking is the best I would say. You know what? There's a hidden tie in that. Maybe it's obvious, but I wanna call out is that you had to be okay being that guy that had that job and now has jobs that you maybe didn't wanna be known as or do for. It's not the embarrassment, but the perception and the outwardly of, I gotta do what it takes to survive to get my dream, and I cannot care no matter how much I actually do of what people think. Yeah. It's spot on. I got the honey badger mentality. Right? It's like whatever it was gonna take for however long it's gonna take. You know, if you're called to do it and you believe this is your gift and to make a difference in the world, you're gonna keep going until you're successful, until you achieve Right. That, to me, is a sign of character of your business. Thank you for doing that. Your moment. Like, when did you realize, oh my god. I gotta do whatever it takes to get to this dream. Yeah. I think it really started the seeds when the parents were divorced at a young age, and I saw all the massive wealth of the Harleys, the Corvettes, the
4

the, the boats, the, you know, the vacations with my dad, and then my dad not paying any child support to my mom. And we live with my mom 90% of the time. And so really I grew up in a single family household with my mom, but I'd go to my dad and learn how to build real estate and be an entrepreneur and like, you know, enjoy life and all these really cool things. And then I go back to mom and be like, we don't have any money. Right? And so at an early age, I saw both sides of, like, the silver spoon and and, like, kind of the wooden spoon. Right? And said, you know what? I'm not gonna let wealth come in between family and relationships and and legacy. And so, I focused like a laser on what the Lord was calling me to do. He also put a lot of good great father figures in my life, basketball coaches, youth pastors, football coaches. And so I always had, you know, great male, you know, kind of mentors
5
0,03:37,000 --> 0,04:11,000
in my life. What you described there from a different kind of tie, so to speak, is that you've said that divorce happened for me, not to me. My parents' things my childhood and my traumas happened for me, not to me. And when you have that mindset and you found some I think sounds like some of that mindset fair enough through faith. Right? Like, it it helps you do that. And you've I think you've touched on a few things, but what's been the impact on just on your life and your and now your business? Yeah. I think the biggest thing is I'm at peace. Right? The Lord has saved me from my sense. He's loved me despite all of my, shortcomings. And and and because of that, I'm free to live at peace and live with impact, live with urgency,
6
0,04:11,000 --> 0,05:24,000
and not be beholden to, the things that, you know, really destroy the legacy of my mom and my dad's marriage. Right. And so that's a beautiful thing. Right. And then I can, you know, help others, unlock and achieve their dreams as pertains to wealth and pertains to hopefully, maybe that that helps them not to have, relationships that are broken of wealth because, you know, money is the number one reason people get divorced. So I think all of these things play a role for where I'm at today, and, I'm grateful to be able to, to serve and use my gifts to help others. Sum up your story. What's the lesson for the listener? Lesson of my story for the listener? I would say each of us are are created in the image of God with certain unique gifts and strengths and believing that, you know, greatness is inside each of us and and centered on serving and blessing others and honoring the Lord. The sky is the limit and not to be distracted with either circumstances of life or to be distracted from from setbacks. Right? And to to keep persevering, keep believing, keep trusting that god has bigger plans to make an impact in your life, your family's impact, the community, the world. Yeah. So that so I think it's the gift of faith is the one thing Lord's given me from a young age. And it's not just, you know, faith to believe in him. It's like faith to trust that he has what's best for me and that he'll ultimately,
7
0,05:24,000 --> 0,05:48,000
he controls my life. I've said this before to people like you're stuck in a rut. Like no one can help you out of this rut. Sometimes you gotta look up to get out, and that's how you find your way out of a rut because sometimes people keep you in the rut too. They kick you down there. Let's just rapid fire. Who gives you inspiration? So I think a number of people do. I would say my wife, the love of my life, my best friend, you know, the one that, I'm committed to laying my life down for for for this life. And so she said the Lord has blessed with us and through her
8
0,05:48,000 --> 0,10:38,000
five children, you know, and so it's been incredible. And then you could say, like, you know, folks that are, like, mentors or virtual mentors. My mom who sacrificed and just focused on my brother and I to love us, my grandma, like, the most amazing grandma. I have cousins. Words bless me with people. What's kind of the best business advice you've ever received? So I would say truly passive income is to your freedom and impact comp as compounding interest is to your money. And so focus like like a laser on compounding or getting to truly passive income. I think too too often we focus on get all of these multiple streams of income or get all of these multiple investments to diversify, and there's absolutely truth in that. But I believe that that's actually the more the second step. The first step is to find the most, most massive amount of cash flowing opportunity with a business or real estate or investment that you can focus, like, go really deep on that one thing to explode that cash flow, explode that wealth, and then immediately put it into something that's gonna produce truly passive income. And you literally don't have to even even think about the income just showing up every single month. So number one, step one, figure out what that number is for you. Step two, focus like a laser on the amount you'll take to invest into that that asset or that that income stream to produce that income that's coming in. And step three is is do everything you can to focus like a laser to get that massive amount of money into that thing so that you can unlock truly passive income. I'm on that journey right now with my wife and I, and, and I've been in this game in the real estate investment game since I was a kid, really since 02/2006 as a professional. And we have a two year plan to get $2,000,000 that's gonna produce somewhere around 16 to 18% of cash flow every single year, and that equals about $30,000 25 to $30,000 per and then we're done. We're done in the sense of having to realize to trade time for our dollars, and now we can actually just trade our time for impact to maximize the ability to give to MVPs. I love that. What's one of the best books you've ever read? The bible for sure. If you're not reading the bible, and and I encourage you to read the bible. Even if you're not a believer, read it for the first time. It's the most sold book in the history of all books. It's the most, sold book every single year. I would say for business wise, it's it's the art of negotiation. It's actually Chris's boss's, never split the difference. But more than that, it's actually the master class. If you had to start over today, what would you differently? I would say I would learn to work harder on myself than I did on my job. This is a Jim Rohn quote, which basically states that if you work hard on your job, you'll make a living. You work harder on yourself and make a fortune. The idea is not just to make a bunch of money. It's actually to make a fortune with who you are as a leader, make an impact for legacy eternally within your your friends, your family, and your community with what you pass on to and with your character. So I would have focused like a laser, not just on getting the, you know, high school degree, the college degree, the basketball scholarship, the first, you know, Marcus Milicek's, you know, sale of the property or the first, you know, business launch of the podcast. Those are all external things, right, that that we typically chase after it. Like, that's gonna bring us the satisfaction or joy. I would have focused on the leadership, the personal development, my faith, my fitness, my family, my personal my relationships. My even my career is a part of that. Right? Those and work on those internal things, and I would have focused like a laser on having a plan for those kind of growth things. Right? Along with more mentors, more coaches, more discipleship groups, those things are so core to who I am today, and it took me longer to figure that out or to actually execute on that. So I would have just reversed the energy back towards those things and also had energy for the other ones, but the other ones will come if you do the first. Yep. If there's a question I should ask you today but didn't, what was that question and how would you answer it? Let's say the the question would be, you know, what helps you to stay urgent with time and urgent with the divine calling that you have on your life? And I would say it's it's a number of things. One, kind of the mentors, the coaches. Right? The the groups that are helping you to think bigger and and and see outside just of your world. Number number two, prayer and actually, you know, focusing like a laser on the work that you feel, the Lord has put on your life. Right? I think time is collapsing, and it's collapsing even more right now with AI and what's happening in the world at the speed of information, and it's so easy to become distracted with the things that are not the priority. You gotta, like, plan and put urgency and just do the things that you you're you're feeling called to do or you're feeling moved to do. That's amazing. Yeah. I love that. Just put put the date and go do it. By the way, thank you so much for coming on today. Who should get ahold of you? How do they do that? Yeah. We serve purpose driven entrepreneurs and investors who want to, you know, compound and multiply their multimillion dollar equity.
